Sometimes, certain internet providers (ISPs) have trouble resolving domain names or connecting to specific servers — including ours. This can cause slow loading, timeouts, or failed connections.
Switching to a public DNS like Google or Cloudflare can often fix these issues by providing faster, more reliable name resolution.
How to Set Up Public DNS on Windows 10 & 11
Open Network Settings
- Press Windows + R, type ncpa.cpl, and press Enter, or
- Right-click your active connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and choose Properties.
Change DNS Settings
- Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click Properties.
- Select Use the following DNS server addresses.
- Enter one of the public DNS options below:
Public DNS Options
Google DNS
- Preferred (IPv4): 8.8.8.8
- Alternate (IPv4): 8.8.4.4
- Preferred (IPv6): 2001:4860:4860::8888
- Alternate (IPv6): 2001:4860:4860::8844
- Preferred (explicit IPv6): 2001:4860:4860:0:0:0:0:8888
- Alternate (explicit IPv6): 2001:4860:4860:0:0:0:0:8844
*Explicit only needed if your Windows is not accepting the normal IPv6
Cloudflare DNS
- Preferred (IPv4): 1.1.1.1
- Alternate (IPv4): 1.0.0.1
- Preferred (IPv6): 2606:4700:4700::1111
- Alternate (IPv6): 2606:4700:4700::1001
Save Options
- Click on OK, then Close.
- Press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter
- Type ipconfig /flushdns, and press Enter
- Type nslookup playnewz.com and press Enter (You should see your DNS server in the first 2 lines, if not, repeat the changes)
- Restart the Game Launcher/Steam
- NOTE: DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to applied
